Types of Tender Notices
Different tender notices type indicates different procedure to be followed before the actual contract can be awarded. These are listed below:

Invitation
to Tender Notice - Open procedure:
This notice indicates that the procedure is open for all interested parties
to participate in the tender.
Invitation
to Tender Notice - Restricted procedure:
This notice indicates that the procedure is restricted to those suppliers
who have already submitted their response against expressions of interest
invited by the authority. Tenders are only invited from those firms that
have qualified against certain criteria.
Invitation
to Tender Notice - Negotiated procedure:
This notice indicates that the procedure which the tendering authority
intends to follow is a negotiated one because the tendering authority may
only consult suppliers of their choice and negotiate the terms of the
contract with one or more of them. The negotiated procedure should only be
used in exceptional cases such as in emergency situation where it is
difficult to assess exact procurement requirement.
Prior-information
Notice:
This notice indicates that the procedure followed with be that of releasing
prior information about future procurement requirements. This type of notice
is generally announced by public sector organisations only. Normally an
Invitation to Tender Notice relating to any of the requirements listed will
be published at a later date. It is recommended that as and when such notice
is released, the supplier should submit their response to the authority and
should ask for future updates from them.
Periodic
Information Notice:
This notice type can come in two forms i.e. with / without call for
competition. Periodic Information Notice without call for competition is
similar to Prior information. Periodic Information Notice with call for
competition is an invitation for suppliers to contact the tendering
authority and participate in the competitive bidding process. These are
published by utility companies as against public sector units..
Qualification
Notice:
This notice type indicates invitation to suppliers to pre-qualify before
going for the actual tendering process. They invite potential suppliers to
pre-qualify based on certain criteria. Successful pre-qualified suppliers
will be invited to bid for contracts at a future date. This notice type are
generally published by only by Utility companies as against opposed to
public sector units.
Contract
Award Notice:
This notice is published after the contract is awarded by the tendering
authority. It indicates the following: a) Contract award date. b) Name of
the successful supplier (s). c) Contract Value.
